Being overweight or obese raises breast cancer risk by as much as 40 percent -- especially for women after menopause. The reason: Elevated estrogen levels is a big risk factor, and the more body fat you have, the more estrogen your body stores. The good news is, it's never too late to keep your body weight in check -- if you're overweight, slimming down may help cut your risk.
